SZEGED-SUBOTICA RAILWAY LINE
HUNGARY AND SERBIA
Elaboration of Design for approval of Szeged-Röszke-Horgoš-Subotica railway line and further documentation concering Subotica-Csikéria-Bácsalmás-Baja railway line.
The primary objective of the project was to develop technical documentation required for the Szeged-Röszka-Horgoš-Subotica railway line, as well as elaboration of the environmental impact assessment and basic documentation concerning Subotica-Csikéria-Bácsalmás-Baja railway line.
The planned speed for the single-track electrified railway line is 160 km/h. The permitted speed, however, remains 120 km/h, due to the constraints imposed by certain curves, environmentally sensitive sections and residential areas. The line meets the requirements of the EU standards related to interoperability.
The axle load of the track is 22.5 tons while the electronic signaling system comply with the European Train Control System, (ETCS). The line will be equipped with Centralized Traffic Control System (CTCS) which will be managed from Szeged in Hungary and from Novi Sad in Serbia. The CTCS may significantly improve the commercial speed of trains and thus the capacity of the line.
